Jaden got his first major injury a couple days ago. Okay, it wasn't actually a major injury, but when you see that much blood, you think it is. He started just playing in the hall, in a laundry basket.
He was content, so I let him play and I did something on the computer. Eventually, I heard something as if he were just starting to cry, but it didn't sound terribly distressed, so I waited a few moments, but not long. When I went in the hall, I found this:
Except it was worse, because there was a child gushing blood from the back of his head. It was running everywhere. His hair was thoroughly matted with blood and I tried to hold my hand on it while I grabbed a towel, but it just ran off my hand, dripping. Sadly, my initial reaction is to keep the blood from getting on too much stuff. I did pretty good too. There was no blood on the laundry in the basket and only a few drops on the carpet. Most the blood got on Jaden's clothes or his hands or my hands.
Once I washed off his hair, it wasn't so bad, but it sure did bleed a lot. You can't quite see all the bits of blood on the towel, but that big spot is almost soaked through. Jaden was allowed to watch tv the rest of the evening. I think he had hit his head on the door hinge.
